On a new Firebox T40 with factory-default settings, the address is https://10.0.1.1:8080. Fireware Web UI uses HTTPS on port 8080 by default.

How to connect:

  1. Plug your computer into interface 1. This is the trusted interface, and its default IP is 10.0.1.1/24 with DHCP server turned on.
  2. Set your computer’s network adapter to get an IP address automatically (DHCP). If you prefer a static address, use something in 10.0.1.0/24, for example 10.0.1.2 with mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway 10.0.1.1.
  3. In a web browser, go to https://10.0.1.1:8080. Your browser will show a certificate warning, which is expected on a new device. Accept it to continue.
  4. Log in with the default Device Administrator account (user name admin). The default passphrases are on WatchGuard’s About Factory-Default Settings page. Then run the Web Setup Wizard, which makes you set new passphrases.

Notes:

  • Interface 0 is the default external interface and gets its address by DHCP. Don’t use it to reach the Web UI during first setup.
  • If you’ve changed the trusted interface IP, use https://<new-IP>:8080 instead.
  • If the Firebox has been used before, reset it to factory-default settings first.
